While car dent repair services are a godsend for those that need them in a pinch, ideally you would want to avoid the need for them in the first place.
Whether you just got yourself a new car (congratulations by the way) or you make a point of keeping the old one in perfect condition, there are a few things you can do to avoid some of the most common ways vehicle’s end up with dents and dings.
Let’s have a look at a few of them here:
Park Safe & Smart
One of the most common causes for unidentified dents, scratches and dings on vehicles come from unknown sources in the parking lot. You know what I mean. A careless trolley, a door swinging open… a jealous ex.
Park carefully, think about the others in the area and stay away from tightly knit bays with loads of badly parked cars in it, find somewhere a little more isolated, and leave ample space on either side of the bay.
Park Undercover
Who knows what might fall from the sky? Stones, hail stones, droppings, twigs and branches, debris, just about anything. That convenient parking bay outside the office building or the stack of condos might seem harmless enough, but stuff falls out of those windows all the time.
Wherever possible, stay away from the open sky when picking a spot to park, if not for the random objects that could land on/fall on it, there are weather conditions to consider too…
Stay Out of the Weather if You Can
Speaking of which, if you have ever had your car caught in a hair storm you know why you need to keep it out of the elements. And a hail storm is just one way that bad weather can affect your car.
When parked, as the point above states, keep it undercover. If the weather is turning nasty outside, consider popping out for milk and bread once it has cleared up.
Don’t Use Your Car as a Placemat
Carrying groceries in each hand, the kids backpack over your shoulder, coffee cup in your mouth while balancing the housekeys on your index finger? Very impressive, but try not to alleviate your burdon by putting any of that stuff on your car.
If might free up a few extra hands, sure, but you’re raising the risk of denting and scratching your car while doing it.
